$2500 Initiation Fee (That you can pay interest free over 10 or 26 months) Plus $200 a month gets you unlimited free track time almost every day. And it's only 25 miles from my house. And I just bought a Ford Focus ST. I can see my savings goals slipping away as I type. Holy shit. With reciprocal membership at MSR Cresson and MSR Houston. Honestly though, how did I not know about this?

UPDATE: Drove down there today, talked with some cool people. Gonna do their mini-HPDE tomorrow in the ST, the cost of which is transferable to the initiation fee, which I'm probably going to end up paying because this place is awesome. Drive whenever you want, shoot rifles, pistols and shotguns, drive dirtbikes, etc. Also they offer a corporate membership which should just be renamed "Group of Friends" membership where up to 5 people can split the initiation fee between them and then they just each have to pay the $200/month. So for $500 plus $200 a month as much track time as you want. Any Austin Oppos want to form Austin Oppo Inc?

UPDATE #2: Drove the ST at Harris Hill today with the owner Bo and it was fantastic. When they talk about lift off oversteer with the Focus ST they were not kidding. But I was able to get a good feel for the track and the racing line, and apparently I did well enough that Bo said I could drive for as long as I wanted today. But I almost ran out of gas and had a couple other things to do so couldn't drive as much as I would have wanted :( Either way I've got all the membership paperwork and next time I have a chance to go I'm joining. Got to talk with a cool guy there too DJ who was very interested in my 78 Volvo, I may end up trading it to him for a track prepped Miata he was looking to sell. Everyone I've met there so far has been awesome, if you live in Central Texas you have no reason to not check this place out.

Nice little track. Perfect for Miatas and the like. Drove in a ChumpCar race there. Our SHO was a bit large for it, but it was a lot of fun!

It has a nice layout with good elevation changes, but it's really bumpy. They've repaved/resurfaced a number of times, but I think the tarmac wasn't laid down properly in the beginning. I guess it's pretty good for smaller cars, and because...you know...race track and all.

They have sportbike days too, but I unless you motocross as well it's not worth the banged up junk and enflamed knees.

Houston has a lot too, all the oil and gas stuff. Austin is all tech, mostly computer stuff. After silicon valley and NYC its the top city for tech I believe. Or so I'm told.

I do live in Austin but I actually work in Oil in Gas, our office is in Houston. I do field work though so I don't have to go to Houston that often. I am also a Mechanical Engineer, I've never looked for a job in Austin but I still imagine there are many engineering jobs, but probably more on the CS/EE side than the ME side.

Ugh, sigh. I bounce back and forth between wishing I lived in Austin, and this is one of those times when I definitely wish I did.

Although, Motorsport Ranch here in D/FW isn't significantly more expensive on the initiation front ($3700), and is only $90/mth, but you do have to drop $20 for every half-hour session you run. So you make the difference up in about a year on the initation fee, and then you can run about 5 30 minute sessions a month at the same cost as HH.

Shit. Shouldn't have done the math. Should have just kept thinking it was super expensive. Shit. Shit. Shit.

Lol. Yeah not having session fees is really nice too just because it make it much more relaxed because you're not manically driving making sure you got your money's worth. Just show up and drive, hang out in the clubhouse a bit, shoot the shit, drive some more, hang out some more. I think it gives it a nicer social aspect.

I dont think our pay will be equal to what your making now .. starting out you can expect about 30k first year and that go up about 5-10k each year depending on how well you can get claims done .. 12 a hour or commision ..
